Prime Big Deal Days: The Only Apple Deals Worth Your Time

Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days are on today and tomorrow, 6 and 7 October, and as usual the Apple section is a mix of real discounts and things that were never really reduced. So rather than send you off to wade through it, I went through every Apple listing on the UK site this morning and pulled out the ones worth your attention. There are six. That's not many, and that's rather the point.

Two things before the list. These are Prime member deals, so you'll need a Prime account to see the prices. And Amazon drops new deals three times a day during the event, so if something you want isn't reduced right now, it's worth checking back this evening and tomorrow morning.

Apple Watch

Apple Watch Series 11, 46mm, Jet Black. This is the one I'd point most people at. The Series 12 only launched last month, which is exactly why last year's model is being cleared, and for everyday use, fitness, sleep and notifications, the Series 11 does everything most of you will ever ask of it. It gets watchOS 27 and Siri AI too. What it doesn't have is the new heart sensors and the Readiness score, so if those were the reason you wanted a new watch, read my Series 12 write-up before you buy.

Apple Watch SE 3, 40mm, Starlight. The sensible first Apple Watch, and a good one for a child or a parent who wants the fall detection and the calls without the extras. It gets watchOS 27 as well. The 40mm case suits a smaller wrist. If you'd prefer the larger 44mm, check whether that's reduced too, because on the day I looked it was the 40mm with the discount.

iPad Air

All three of the iPad Air deals I found are the 1TB models, and I want to be straight with you about that. 1TB is far more storage than most people will ever use on an iPad, so these are only a bargain if you need that space, for a big photo library, lots of video, or working with large files. If you just want an iPad Air for the sofa, the 128GB or 256GB at full price will likely still work out cheaper. With that said:

iPad Air 11-inch with M4, 1TB. This is the current model, and it's unusual to see the newest iPad Air discounted at all, so if you were going to buy one anyway this is the one to look at first.

iPad Air 11-inch with M3, 1TB. Last year's model. The M3 is still a very fast chip for an iPad and it runs every Apple Intelligence feature, so if the price gap between this and the M4 is big, this is the better buy for most people.

iPad Air 13-inch with M3, 1TB. The same chip in the bigger screen. Lovely for watching things and for anyone who finds the 11-inch a bit small to work on, but it's a lot of iPad to hold, so I'd only go 13-inch if you've tried one.

And one accessory

Apple Magic Mouse, USB-C. If you've been getting by with a cheap mouse on your Mac, this is the one Apple designed for it, and it's rarely reduced. The USB-C version is the current one, so make sure that's the listing you end up on.

What I didn't find

No meaningful discounts on the current MacBook Air, the MacBook Neo, AirPods 5, AirPods Pro 3 or any iPhone, at least not when I looked. If you're after any of those, Apple's own refurbished store is usually the better route, and I wrote about how to keep an eye on it earlier this year.

If you're not sure whether one of these is right for you, or you'd like a hand setting something up once it arrives, send me a booking request and we'll sort it together.
